Our Wellness Drive: #YOU MATTER

Tshipi recently launched a comprehensive three-day wellness drive from Monday, July 29, 2024, to Wednesday, August 2, 2024.

Our commitment to the health and well-being of every employee and business partner remains a top priority, and this initiative is a testament to that dedication.

Through this initiative, our primary goal is to foster a supportive environment through a holistic preventative wellness program. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving our valued business partners Moolmans, Liebherr, AMC, and Purple3, all focused on enhancing employee wellness. The drive aims to ensure that every employee is healthy, fit, and ready for work every day and every shift.

The wellness campaign marks the beginning of an ongoing effort to drive employee wellness throughout the year and as such, it was supported by prominent health organisations; Life Health, ICAS and Old Mutual who provided essential services throughout the week, focusing on mental health and physical well-being. These services included:

  • Mental Health and Tuberculosis screening
  • Breast examinations
  • HIV testing
  • Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) testing
  • Blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol screening
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments

The theme of the wellness campaign, #You Matter, underscores our commitment to the mental and physical health of all employees. To reinforce this message, a new Liebherr 9150 excavator was painted in green—the global color symbolising mental health. This machine will serve as a daily reminder of our dedication to the well-being of our employees and business partners.

During the wellness drive, the following activities and screenings were conducted:

  • 604 screenings for blood pressure, tuberculosis, blood sugar, and cholesterol.
  • 640 employees tested for HIV, placing our mine at approximately 65% of employees aware of their HIV status.
  • 2 new breast light screening devices were purchased and 81 females we screened for breast abnormalities.
  • 107 male employees were screened with the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) Rapid Test.

Employees with identified abnormalities were referred for further treatment.
Breast examinations will continue beyond the initial campaign period to ensure ongoing support.

We are proud of the success of our #You Matter wellness drive and remain committed to prioritising the health and well-being of our entire workforce. Your health matters to Tshipi, and we will continue to support and enhance your wellness throughout the year.
